Frances L. Gates, 81, of Merriam, KS passed away Sunday morning June 29, 2008 at Overland Park Regional Medical Center. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Stanley, KS. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, 2008 at The Amos Family Funeral Chapel of Shawnee. A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.

Frances was born June 28, 1927 in Osawatomie, KS. She was a graduate of Osawatomie High School. After graduating high school she married William F. Gates and moved to Merriam, KS.

Frances had a love of books and gardening. She was especially proud of her green beans and hibiscus. Mrs.

Gates is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, William F. Gates, Merriam, KS; two sons and their wives, William F. Gates, Jr. (Catherine), Kansas City, KS and David W. Gates (Carol), Katy, TX. One daughter, Gail Worden, Lenexa, KS. Two sisters, Beverly Holsinger, Ft. Dodge, IA; and Linda Ashley (Richard), Austin, TX; Three brothers, Ralph Casida; Lake Isabella, CA; Roger Casida (Delores), Conroe, TX; David Casida (Connie), Carson City, NV. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive her.
