MARY LOU YORK ROBERTS

OCTOBER 7, 1927 - OCTOBER 1, 2015

Mary Louise Roberts of Overland Park, KS passed away on October 1, 2015. She was 87 years old. She was born on October 7th, 1927 to George and Marjorie (Patterson) York. Visitation will be from 10am to 11am with the service following directly after on Friday, October 9th at Valley View United Methodist Church, 8412 West 95th Street, Overland Park, Kansas. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.

Mary Lou was a teacher for nineteen years in the Shawnee Mission School District. She received her Bachelor's degree from Pittsburg State University and her Master's degree from University of Missouri, Kansas City. Mary Lou was a founding member of the local Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.), where she reached Golden Girl status as a member for more than 50 years.

She was a member of Valley View United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jim. Her parents and one brother also precede her. Her sister Martha and brother George survive her. Her children, Ken Roberts and wife Michelle, Bruce Roberts and wife Penny, Beverly Smallwood and husband Steve also survive her. She leaves four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren was a joy of her life. She also enjoyed painting, reading, and visiting with friends. All who had the honor to know her, will miss her.
