WILLARD MARION STRINGHAM

JULY 12, 1926 - JUNE 17, 1989

Willard Marion Stringham, 62, Topeka, a native of Osawatomie and retired military career man, died Saturday, June 17, 1989, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Topeka.

The son of Willard Sylvester and Lillian Belle Henry Stringham, he was born at Osawatomie July 12, 1926. He attended the Osawatomie schools and graduated with the Class of 1944.

Following graduation he joined the United States Navy. He served in the Navy, Army and Air Force and retired in 1972 as a technical sergeant in the Air Force.

He was married to Laura M. Kelly Nov. 12, 1946, at Paola. She died June 29, 1984.

Surviving are his three daughters, Mrs. Toni Lea Potts and Mrs. Kathleen Ann Hertel, both of Topeka, and Miss Janie Marie Stringham of Olathe; two brothers, James Oliver Stringham of Paola, and Walter Gene Stringham of Bucyrus; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Lee Koelsch of Paola, and Mrs. Dorothy Nease and Mrs. Della Alcorn, both of Concordia; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Mr. Stringham will lie in state from 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Brennan Funeral Home in Topeka, where relatives and friends will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. The casket will remain closed. Private graveside services will be Thursday at the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth. The Rev. Rennie Berry of the Covenant Baptist Church of Topeka will be the officiant.
