DEWEY DALE, JR.

CLASS OF 1944

JANUARY 3, 1927 - APRIL 5, 2003

Dewey Dale, Jr., 76, Memphis, TN, a former Osawatomie and Linn County resident, died April 5, 2003 in St. Francis Hospital in Memphis.

The oldest son of Dewey Dale, Sr. and Mary Ann Dunn Dale, he was born January 3, 1927 in Claflin, KS. He attended Osawatomie High School and graduated with the Class of 1944.

He served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a signal corps technician. He later attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, where he majored in electric engineering.

He was then employed in electronics by the Kansas Highway Patrol and later by the Missouri Pacific Railroad in Kansas and Arkansas, from which he retired.

He married Helen Twyford in 1958 in Hernando, MS. They lived in Little Rock, AR and Memphis.

Mr. Dale was a member of the Willow Oaks Church of Memphis.

His hobbies included assisting with electronics training at Christian Brothers College in Memphis, astronomy, fishing, woodworking and computer technology. His early interest in electronics led him to build a primitive digital computer and a microwave generator when he was still in high school. As a student, physics was possibly his favorite subject.

Surviving are his wife, Helen Dale of Memphis; and three brothers, Jim Dale and Lewis Dale, both of LaCygne, and Martin Dale of Sunbury, OH.

Services were at the church with burial in West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery in Memphis.
