HARRY DOUGLAS CLARK

CLASS OF 1944

NOVEMBER 9, 1927 - APRIL 8, 2002

Harry Douglas Clark, 74, Osawatomie, died Monday, April 8, 2002, in Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Osawatomie, the only child of Harry Ross and Florence Ruth Mulholland Clark. He grew up in Osawatomie, attended local schools and was a 1944 graduate of Osawatomie High School.

On Dec. 1, 1944, he entered the U. S. Navy in Kansas City, MO. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946, he entered the U. S. Army. During his military career of 24 years, he served in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He was a master sergeant. He retired from the military in 1968.

After his retirement from the military, he worked for the next 20 years as a parts manager and assistant general manager for auto and farm implement dealers in Honduras.

He and Dora Amanda Fernandez were married April 19, 1962, in Whistler, Ala. They became the parents of five children and made their home in Tegucigalpa. Honduras.Mr. Clark returned to the United States to care for his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Dora Amanda Clark, Tegucigalpa; his children, Harvey Ross Clark and Mary Ruth Clark, both of Tegucigalpa, Brant Clark and Brent Clark, who are both serving with the U. S. Air Force, and Harry Douglas Clark Jr. of Osawatomie; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Leavenworth National Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie
