MARY CHARLOTTE NEWLAN WEAVER

Mary Charlotte Weaver, age 84, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, died December 6, 2008 at Forest Hills Health Care Center in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

She was born October 23, 1924, at Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the oldest of four children born to Curtis Mark and Tina Rae (Fouts) Newlan. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1943.

She was married to Darrel LaVern White on August 5, 1948 at Olathe. They became the parents of three children. Their marriage ended in divorce on May 20, 1966.

She was married to Donald Allen "Gordo" Weaver on December 30, 1968 at Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on December 27, 2007.

She worked as a licensed mental health aide at Osawatomie State Hospital for 17 years from July 26, 1965 until June 17, 1984. She later worked at Osawatomie Nursing Home.

Mary was a Cub Scout leader while the boys were young. She enjoyed sewing, computers, playing scrabble, dominos, and working puzzles. She was active with the alumni association serving as secretary for the Class of 1943. Spending time with family and friends was an important part of Mary's life. She did not let the miles separate her from her family and friends after her move to Oklahoma.

She was a member of the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Darrel White, Jr., and her sister Genevieve Faulkner.

She is survived by her son Barry White of Welda, Kansas; her daughter Penney Steiger of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; two sisters Clarie Haukenberry of Topeka and Martha Rae Ohrmann also of Topeka; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 8 step grandchildren; 28 step great grandchildren; 4 step great great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the St. Philip Neri Church in Osawatomie. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday with visitation following at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be
