EDDY ERICKSON

JANUARY 22, 1925 - JUNE 5, 2015

Eddy G. Erickson, Dallas, Texas, died June 5, 2015 at Baylor University Hospital while undergoing open heart surgery.

He was born January 22, 1925, to John Henry and Roxie Emma Steva Erickson in Osawatomie, KS.

He grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie High School graduating in the Class of 1943. He was very active in Boy Scouts and was an Eagle Scout.

He loved music and was a drummer in the Osawatomie High School band. After service in the US Navy, he attended Chillicothe Missouri Business College.

He married Mary Esther Stewart on March 19, 1950, in Independence. MO.

He spent his whole life in the theatre business starting as a popcorn boy in high school at the Osawa Theatre in Osawatomie, moved up to a projectionist and on to a managerial position in the HG Griffith organization. After working in Kansas City, MO, he was transferred to Dallas, TX. He left the organization and opened the Eddy G. Erickson Booking Service which he operated until three weeks before his death.

He was a 50-year member of Temple Gate No. 299 AFandAM in Kansas City, MO. A life member of Shriners Hella Temple and a substitute drummer in their band. In 1999, he received the 33rd degree of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry rank and decoration of the Knight Commander of the Court of Honour in Dallas.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, John and Emma Erickson. Survivors are his wife, Mary, of 65 years, of the home and a sister, Shirley Erickson, Osawatomie.
