ROBERT DEAN "BOB" BARKER

Robert Dean "Bob" Barker age 87, of Osawatomie, Ks. died Friday Aug. 10, 2012 at the Life Care Center of Osawatomie.

Bob was born to Thomas Robert Barker and Emma Margaret (Rauhut) Barker on August 2, 1925 in Osawatomie, Ks. He was the third of five children. He grew up in Osawatomie and attended Osawatomie schools graduating in the class of 1943.

On June 28th, 1943 Bob enlisted in the U.S Navy, he was with the 113Th Naval Construction Battalion and served in the Asiatic Pacific, and the Philippine Liberation during WWII. He was discharged on Feb. 5th 1946 at Great lakes, Illinois with the rank of Machinist mate 3rd class.

Bob went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1947 and worked for the railroad for 31 years. He was a car inspector when he was bad ordered in 1978.

Bob was a member of the Hanlin-Kelley post #2258 of the V.F.W post Osawatomie, Ks.

He married Dorothy Maxine Conrad on September 4, 1948 in Osawatomie. They were married for 64 years. They became the parents of two children, Roger Allen Barker and Debra Sue Barker (Wilson).

Bob had many hobbies but his favorite thing in life was being a father and grandfather. From his days of playing football through his years he remained a big sports fan. He was an avid Chiefs fan.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Charles W. Barker, and three sisters: Ruth Blackwell, Frances Troxel and Betty Troutman. All who graduated from Osawatomie High School.

He is survived by his wife Dorthy of the Life care center of Osawatomie, son Roger Allen Barker and wife Vickie of Bucyrus, Ks. A daughter Debra Sue Wilson and husband Richard Wilson of Paola, Ks. Two granddaughters: Jayme Wilson of Lawrence, Kansas and Lindy (Wilson) Craig of Parker, Kansas. One great granddaugther: Kensley Craig. Three granddaughters Gina Lowry, Jennifer Gouker and Brandy Conrad. Three great grandsons: Aziriah Lowry, Joseph Gouker and Jaxson Gouker. Also, many other loved ones and friends.

Visitation: 2-4pm Sunday Aug.12 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home 203 Main, Osawatomie, Ks.

Services: 2pm Monday Aug.13 at the Eddy-Birchard Chapel with burial to follow in the Osawatomie Cemetery with military honors.
