Graveside services for Betty Jane Hartley, 60, of 710 First St., Osawatomie, were held in Osawatomie Cemetery Saturday. Mrs. Hartley died last Wednesday in St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, MO.

She was born January 29, 1924, in Osawatomie, the daughter of Elonzo Burton and Lillian Landers Spears. She grew up and lived here most of her life with the exception of a period when she lived in Lawrence. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1942.

While in Lawrence, she worked in several restaurants and a laundry. She worked at the Corner Cafe in Osawatomie in 1959-60.

She married Edwin William Hartley, Sr., June 4, 1960 in Miami, OK. She helped him finish raising his family.

Mrs. Spears was a member of Hanlin-Kelly Post No. 2258 Auxiliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, of Osawatomie.

Survivors include her husband, Edwin of the home; three stepchildren, E. W. Hartley, Jr., Grandview MO, Gay Joyce Engelhaupt, Orlando, FL and Janice Elaine Johnson, Paola; a sister, Lois Rommelfanger, Osawatomie; and five grandchildren.

The Rev. Lewis Heiney conducted the services. Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home cared for the arrangements.
