WILNA JEAN JACKSON SMITH

OCTOBER 30, 1924 - FEBRUARY 13, 2003

Wilna Jean Smith, 78, Osawatomie, died Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Miami County Medical Center in Paola.

She was born Oct. 30, 1924, in Hoisington, Kans., and was the third of five children of Norman Edward and Minnie Agnes Pudei Jackson. She graduated in 1942 from Osawatomie High School.

She worked at Cowden's Gift Shop and Meek's Drug Store in Osawatomie.

On March 18, 1951 she married Elton Wayne Smith in Arkansas. They lived in Wichita for 10 years. While living in Wichita, she worked for Beech Aircraft. They moved to the Kansas City area in 1961 and to Independence, Mo., in 1963. Her husband died in October 1974.

Mrs. Smith worked for the Chrysler Corp. in Kansas City, Kan., and retired from the company June 30, 1980. She moved in 1981 to Harlingen, Texas, where she lived until 1987, when she moved to Marshall, Texas, to be near her sister. She moved back to Osawatomie in December 1997.

Others preceding her in death were a brother and three sisters.

Nieces and nephews survive.

Inurnment services were Tuesday in Osawatomie Cemetery under the direction of Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie.
