RAYMOND ALLEN HAYS

Raymond Allen Hays, 62, formerly of Osawatomie, died Wednesday, Jan. 28, 1987, at his home in Boring, Ore., following a prolonged illness.

The oldest son of Walter R. and Violet Moraine Hays, he was born in rural Miami County Aug. 1, 1924. He attended the Osawatomie schools and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1942.

He was employed as a foreman for Pratt-Whitney in Kansas City.

After his marriage to Charlotte Adams in 1944, they returned to Osawatomie. Mr. Hays leased and operated the Texaco stations and also worked for Glencliff Dairy. He left Osawatomie to manage Firestone stores in Kansas City, Kan., and Atchison before assignment to other managerial duties in the midwest.

Mr. Hays was co-owner of the Valley Cab Company, a taxi and limousine service in Santa Barbara, Calif., at the time of his retirement in 1982.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Osawatomie Masonic Lodge.

Preceding his in death were his parents, one sister and a brother.

The survivors include his friend, Steve Pastore, of the home; his daughter, Barbara Furr of Marion, Ohio; two grandchildren; three brothers, Charles Hays of Atchison, Robert Hays and Walter L. Hays of Osawatomie; and two sisters, Ona Mae Neuenschwander of Jefferson City, Mo., and Linda Carter of Las Vegas, Nev.

Cremation was conducted in Oregon. Graveside services in Osawatomie are pending.
