INEZ GERTRUDE FIELDS BEETS

Inez Gertrude Beets, age 82, long time resident of the Green Valley Community west of Osawatomie, Kansas died Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at Olathe Medical Center.

Inez was born November 5, 1924, on a farm approximately five miles west of Osawatomie. She was the second of five children born to Everett Christopher and Gertie Beatrice (White) Fields. She graduated from 8th grade at Green Valley School and then graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1942.

Inez was united in marriage to Roy Marvin Beets on October 11, 1942 in the Green Valley Community. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of three children - Duane, Janet, and Phil. They moved to their farm in rural Osawatomie in 1952.

Inez spent the early part of her life raising their three children. After her husband was disabled from the railroad, she worked for Holiday Manor and Regency Health Care from June 1969 until August 1986. Her husband preceded her in death on February 7, 1998.

She was a long-time member of the Green Valley Baptist Church where she had been a clerk, treasurer, and Sunday school teacher for the preschool class for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Birdean.

She is survived by her children Duane Beets and his wife Sandy of Osawatomie, Janet Dunaway and her husband Jeff of Topeka, and Philip E. Beets and Donna Scheve of Kansas City, Missouri; one brother Wayne LaVern Fields and his wife Frances of Eldena, Illinois; two sisters Shirley Ann McCoach of Osawatomie and Naomi Mae Castleberry and her husband Earl of Topeka, Kansas; her sister-in-law Lola Beets of Rantoul, Kansas; two brothers-in-law and their spouses Edward "Doc" and Betty Beets of Ottawa and Donald and Margaret Beets of Letchworth Herts, England; two grandsons and their families Allan and Jodie Beets, Jessica and Alyssa; Brian Beets and Randi Walters, Briley, Sophie, Lydia and Walker all of Osawatomie; one granddaughter and her family Jennifer and Todd VandeVelde, Cole and Gracie of Topeka; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 11, 2006 at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with visitation from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. Burial will be in the Green Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Duane Beets, Phil Beets, Jeff Dunaway, Allan Beets, Brian Beets, and Todd VandeVelde. Memorials are to the American Cancer Society, the Osawatomie Senior Center, or donor's choice.
