Marianna Grant, 86, Topeka, died Dec. 3, 2009, at Midland Hospice House, Topeka.

She was born Aug. 27, 1923, in Paola, the daughter of Vernon W. and Helen B. Hoover Dunaway. She grduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1941.

She had lived in Topeka since 1953 and worked as a deputy city clerk for the city of Topeka for 30 years before retiring on Sept. 18, 1985.

She married Henry H. Grant on July 7, 1951. He died April 17, 1994. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Vernon W. Dunaway Jr., and a sister, Marcella Kirk.

Survivors include her daughter, Jaylene Dumas of Topeka; two grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Hubbell of Tucson, Ariz.; and seven great-grandchildren, the joys of her life.
