GLENN BIGELOW

CLASS OF 1941 

FEBRUARY 21, 1923 - MARCH 31, 1996

Glenn E. Bigelow was born February 21, 1923, at Gardner, Kansas, the son of William Irving and Lana (Rohrer) Bigelow. Glenn grew up in Osawatomie and attended schools there, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1941. After receiving his education, he served with the Merchant Marines during World War II.

On August 17, 1947, he was united in marriage to Wylamene Hunsperger in Osawatomie. They were privileged to share over 48 years of marriage.

He moved to the Ottawa community in 1951 from Osawatomie. Glenn served as an agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in Ottawa from 1951 until his retirement in 1983.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ottawa; the Osawatomie Masonic Lodge, and the Metropolitan Veterans Association.

Mr. Bigelow passed away Sunday, March 31, 1996 at St Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.

Glenn is survived by his wife, Wylamene, of th home; two daughters, Lana Jane (Bigelow) Kriss of Springfield, Illinois and Lisa (Bigelow) Bowman of Charlottesville, Virginia; three grandsons, George and Andrew Kriss and Samuel Bowman.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Noel David Bigelow.

Funeral Services were held in the First United Church in Ottawa, Kansas on Wednesday, April 3, 1996 with the Rev. Kent Melcher officiating. Interment was in the Osawatomie Cemetery, Osawatomie, Kansas.
