AUGUST 8, 1921 - JANUARY 13, 2007

Harold Thomas Wilhoit, 85, Pleasant Valley, MO, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2007 at North Kansas City Hospital. A Celebration of his Life will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 11th at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel, 6600 N. Antioch, Gladstone, MO, 64119. Inurnment, with military honors, will be 12 noon Friday, January 26th at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, MO.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions in Harold's name to the charity of your choice.

Harold was born, August 8, 1921 in Osawatomie, KS to Robert and Cecile (Smith) Wilhoit. He graduated from Osawatomie High School with the class of 1940 and served with the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII.

Harold spent the first part of his work career as a welder before spending the next 29 years as an optician, retiring in 1988 from Benson Optical. He was active with the City of Pleasant Valley, serving 10 years as an alderman, served 27 years with the Pleasant Valley Civic Organization as a Vice-President and Building Chairman, and was a member of American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs. He also enjoyed drawing, reading, swimming, fishing and camping.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert, and a sister, Rosemary. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; a son, Harold Thomas Wilhoit, Jr.; daughters, Nicki Wilhoit and Teresa Collins and 3 grandsons, Bret, Clint and Evan Wilhoit.
