MARJORIE MARIE WEAVER

Marjorie Marie Weaver, age 84, of Osawatomie, Kansas went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 10, 2006. She died at the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kansas.

Marjorie was born March 27, 1922 at Osawatomie, Kansas. She was the fifth of seven children born to Alexander Louis and Mamie Mae (Landers) Weaver. She attended school in Osawatomie graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1940. Upon graduation, she immediately enrolled in the School of Cosmetology in Cheyenne, Wyoming. In December of 1941, she returned to Osawatomie and obtained her Kansas Cosmetology license and began working in a local beauty shop.

In 1952, she moved to Chicago, Illinois and attended Moody Bible College where she obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. After graduating in 1955, she worked at a church in Flint, Michigan and then in the hills of West Virginia doing mission work. She then returned to Osawatomie and began her career as a social worker for the State of Kansas. After three years of service there, she advanced her education at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois and graduated in 1967 with a Master's Degree in Sociology. Returning to Osawatomie, she was appointed Chief Social Worker over five counties and settled in Winfield, Kansas.

In 1983, Marge retired from social work and moved to Stillwater, Oklahoma to be near family and was the caregiver for her sister Helen until her death in 2002. She returned to Osawatomie in 2003 and was a resident of Vintage Park. The following year Marge moved to the Good Samaritan Center in Olathe, Kansas where she resided until her death.

Marjorie loved her Lord, her church, and her family and invested much of her life caring for others. Marge was extremely fond of her great nieces and nephews and claimed them all as hers. She will be dearly missed by all of her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings Alvin Weaver, Mary Stucker-Brocaw, Katherine Weaver, Louise Weaver, and Helen Weaver.

She is survived by one sister Evelyn Diehm of Olathe, Kansas; her nephew Randy Diehm and his wife Carole of Olathe; her niece Joanne Blake and her husband Francis of Ft. Collins, Colorado; and niece Sharon Whitney and her husband Richard of Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2006 at the First Baptist Church in Osawatomie. She will lie in state after 1 p.m. Thursday with visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Diehm, Richard Whitney, David Whitney, Michael Whitney, Mindy Diehm, Thomas Whitney, and James Whitney.
