Services for Lois Jean Rommelfanger, 218 Lincoln, Osawatomie, were held Friday in Osawatomie Cemetery. Mrs. Rommelfanger, 68, died Wednesday, January 30, 1991 in her home after an extended illness.

She was born July 30, 1922 in Tullahoma, TN , the daughter of E. Burton and Lillian Katherine Landers Spears. She moved with her family to Osawatomie when she was one year old. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in l940.

She and Floyd Ray were married in Spring Hill and they became the parents of two children. The family lived in several towns. The couple were divorced in the late 1950's.

On January 23, 1960, she and Maurice Rommelfanger were married in New Laredo, Mexico and they became the parents of two sons. They lived in Greeley for two years before moving to Colorado Springs, CO where they lived for eight years. They moved to Osawatomie in 1970.

Mrs. Rommelfanger worked at the Sunflower Ordinance Plant during World War II. She worked at Smith Coat Factory in Paola during 1957-58 and at the El Rey Tavern and Cafe in Osawatomie in 1959.

Among those preceding her in death were three brothers, Fred, Leonard and Howard, and one sister, Betty Spears Hartley.

Survivors include her husband, Maurice, of the home; three sons, Dannie Jo Ray, Richland, MO; and Bill Rommelfanger and Brent Rommelfanger, Osawatomie; a daughter, Kathy Orr, Osawatomie; and eight grandchildren.

The Rev. Al Lubberts conducted the services. Diana Wright was the soloist. Pallbearers were Randy Stoughton, Pat Tenpenny, Larry White, Gary Orr, Jim Abbott and Harold Crabtree. Honorary pallbearers were Rick Dial and Randy Conrad. A memorial has been established in her name to Olathe Hospice.
