MILDRED PAULINE SAGE LAMBERT

JULY 5, 1921 - MARCH 14, 2012

Mildred Pauline (Sage) Lambert, 90, a resident of Vintage Park assisted living in Osawatomie, Kansas died on March 14, 2012 at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, KS.

Mildred (also known as Peggy) was born on July 5, 1921 in her parent’s home near Drexel, MO. She and her sisters [Fern (Sage) Whitney and Helen (Sage) Cartwright] were the children of Clarence Smith Sage and Jessie Marie (Parker) Sage.

She attended Mission Elementary School near Paola, freshmen and sophomore years at Paola High, and graduated from Osawatomie High School in the class of 1940.

After graduation, she attended beauty school in Topeka. Mildred worked in Mabel’s and Mi’Ladys beauty shops for several years in Osawatomie. She also had her own beauty shops in her homes in Osawatomie. She also answered the phones for Eddy Birchard Funeral Home.

She married John W. Lambert on April 14, 1946. They adopted their daughter, Donna Jean, two months after she was born on June 25, 1949.

Mildred served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader as well as a Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School leader and helper at the United Methodist Church in Osawatomie. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Osawatomie and the Green Valley Social Club. Mildred’s hobbies included needlework, crochet, embroidery, and doll making.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; and daughter, Donna Jean Goodwin. Her survivors are her sisters, Helen Cartwright and Fern Whitney, of Osawatomie.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 18, from 12:30 to 1:30 PM and the funeral to follow at 1:30 pm. Both will be at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home located at 203 Main Street, Osawatomie, KS 66064. Burial will be at the Green Valley Cemetery in rural Osawatomie.

Memorials maybe made to the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie in care of the funeral home.
