Dale Reynolds, 85, Lampe, Mo., formerly of Osawatomie, died Friday, March 14, 2008.

He was born May 21, 1922, in Osawatomie, the son of Arthur and Mildred Wilkerson Reynolds.

On Oct. 28, 1940, he was inducted in the U.S. Army where he received the Purple Heart and five Battle Stars from tours in Normandy, Holland, Luxemburg, Germany and Andenne. He was in the 2nd Battalion, No. 127 Field Artillery, 35th Infantry Division and second in charge of gunmen crew. He was wounded on March 7, 1945. He served our country from June 1940 until June 1946.

On Sept. 13, 1966, he and Gloria Haemmerle were married in Harrisvonville, Mo.

After completing his military service, he worked as a carpenter for most of his working years.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Gloria Lampe; two sons, Arthur D. Reynolds and Johnnie H. Reynolds; and a stepson, Richard Haemmerle.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Vonghan, Lois Koon, Nancy Reynolds, Martha Wenger, Loretta Rayl and Gail Stanley; a son, Kevin Reynolds; stepchildren, Carolyn Greer, David and Glena; two sisters, Helen Melin and Evelyn Vess; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services were Monday in Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Paola, followed by burial in the Osawatomie Cemetery.
