MARY JANE PAGE McCLOSKEY

CLASS OF 1940

JANUARY 24, 1922 - MARCH 31, 2006

Mary Jane McCloskey, 84, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2006. She was born on January 24, 1922, in Prairie Center, KS, and grew to adulthood in Lane, KS. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1940.

Mary moved to Kansas City as a young adult, where she met her husband, William. She was a member of the Phoenix Park Methodist Church and later a member of College Heights Methodist Church. She held office at the Disabled American Veterans and Ladies Auxiliary. In her early years she was active in the Campfire Girls and Brownies. Mary retired in 1994 after 33 years of service at Veterans Administration Medical Center.

She loved to speak of her many travel adventures, crochet for her family, and was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her husband, William Walter, in 1959. Survived by one sister, M. Carol Taranto; one brother, Kenneth Page; four children, Jane Golden and John West of Kansas City, William and Debbie of Kansas City, Julie and Jim Sullivan of Independence, Robert and Grace of Raytown; six grandchildren, Jim Sullivan, Harold Golden, Jennifer Harper, Kimberly McCloskey, Jason Sullivan, Billy Paul McCloskey; three great-grandchildren, Jimmy Sullivan, Maya Harper, Jamila Sullivan.

Graveside services were held on Tuesday, April 4, 1 p.m., at Lane Cemetery, in Franklin County, KS. Mary will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her. (Arr: Sheil Colonial Funeral Home, )
