CEOLA DIXON MULLINS

CLASS OF 1940

NOVEMBER 19, 1921 - OCTOBER 5, 1998

Ceola Mae Mullins, 76, Osawatomie, died Monday, Oct. 5, 1998, at Shawnee Mission Medical Center in Merriam.

She was born Nov. 19, 1921, at Houstonia, Mo., the daughter of Ammie Ellis and Eula Mae Greer Dixon. She graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1940.

She was married to Emmitt Bert Mullins on Sept. 10, 1947, at Raton, N.M. They became the parents of a daughter. Her husband preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mullins had worked at IGA and Brooks Floral in Osawatomie and Wal-Mart in Paola.

She was known as a wonderful homemaker and loved her church and family. She was very active in the alumni, having been the secretary of her class.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie, the United Methodist Women, the Order of the Eastern Star and Silver Link Lodge No. 207.

Her parents and a sister also preceded her in death.

Her daughter, JoLayne Mullins of Lenexa, survives.

Services were at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home in Osawatomie. The Rev. Larry Buss officiated. Diana Wright sang "An Evening Prayer," "It is No Secret," "How Great Thou Art" and "My God and I." She was accompanied at the organ by Julie Weaver. "The Lord's Prayer" was a special taped musical selection, with her daughter, JoLayne Mullins, as the soloist.

Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Glenn Ricketts, Bill Calvin, Bob Wilson, Roger Kerr, Bill Burras, Charles Hoyle and Larry Reid.

Memorials have been established in her name to the church.
