LOIS WINONA DAY JAMES MORRIS

FEBRUARY 17, 1922 - AUGUST 9, 2006

Lois Winona James Morris, age 84, of Osawatomie, Kansas, died August 9, 2006 at North Point Skilled Nursing Center in Paola.

Lois was born February 17, 1922 in Miami County, Kansas near Osawatomie. She was the daughter of Clarence and Lois (Walters) Day. She lived in this community most of her life. She attended Union Valley School and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1940.

She was married to Gerald Dean James of Lane, Kansas. To this union were born five children Larry Rodger, Linda Carol, Jerilyn Ferne, Jonathan Charles and his twin Jillane Edith who passed on at the age of two days.

At the age of 26, Winona began attending Spring Grove Friends Church and was saved through the ministry of Ferne Cook who was the pastor at the time. Winona joined the meeting and attended for over 50 years until illness forced her to be unable to attend. She served as clerk of the meeting for 30 years and spent many years teaching Sunday School and Bible Study classes.

After the death of her husband, Winona went to work at Osawatomie State Hospital where she used her first name of Lois. She was a Psychiatric Aide and worked up to a Mental Health Technician. She married Everett Morris at the age of 62 and retired. She and Everett traveled to Hawaii, Ireland, and most of the United States and were very happy. They lived in the summertime in LaCygne, Kansas. After four years of marriage, Everett passed away and Lois took up oil painting for a hobby.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, and her daughter Jillane

She is survived by two sons Larry Rodger James and J. C. James, and two daughters Linda Carol James Bowater and Jerilyn Ferne James Herrigas.
