JULY 31, 1922 - AUGUST 23, 2012

A Memorial Service for Earl “Bill” Wayne Couch Jr.,90, of Fairview, Arkansas will be 11AM Monday August 27, 2012, at Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church in Bull Shoals, AR officiated by Pastor Dave Mattson. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery at 1:30PM with Military Honors by the VFW Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341. Bill died at Springfield, MO. August 23, 2012.

Bill was born July 31, 1922 at Council Grove, KS to Earl and Nellie Wright Couch. Bill grew up in Osawatomie, Kansas and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1940.

He served in the United States Army during WWII in the 502nd Combat Engineers going ashore at Normandy, France and fighting through Germany into Pilsen, Czechoslovakia.

The greatest loves of his life were being married to Pat and being a father and grandfather. He met Pat Lamb on a blind date and they married April 11, 1954.

Bill worked as a switchman for the Southern Pacific Railroad and retired in 1983.

He loved animals especially his dogs. He also loved tending his garden. Bill was an active member of Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church serving as church treasurer for many years. He was a member of the Hoevel-Barnett Post #1341 VFW and the National Society of Sons of the American Revolution in Harrison, AR.

Earl is survived by wife Patricia of Fairview, AR; son, Aaron Couch (Melinda Wagner) of Portland, OR; daughter, Anna Couch of Covina, CA and three grandchildren, Cailin Couch, Nathan Couch and Andrew Couch. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Kathlyn Dunlap.

Memorials may be made to Christ by the Lake Lutheran Church of Bull Shoals.
