MARY I. CARSON MOREHEAD

CLASS OF 1940 

FEBRUARY 18, 1922 - MAY 19, 1987 

Mrs. Mary I. Morehead, 65, Osawatomie, died Tuesday, May 19, 1987, at the Humana Hospital of Overland Park.

She was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Osawatomie, the daughter of Wade Hampton and Fannie Catherine Brady Carson. She grew up in Osawatomie, and attended the schools there, graduating from the Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1940.

On Jan. 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to James M. Morehead in Osawatomie. They continued to make their home there.

Mrs. Morehead was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Engineers Ladies and the American Legion Auxiliaries, all of Osawatomie. She had been active in the Alumni Association and served as secretary.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Surviving are her husband, James Morehead of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Dee Ellen Slayman of Osawatomie, and Miss Jamie Suzanne Morehead of Lenexa; a brother, Kenneth Carson of Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Maxine Baumann of Osawatomie, and a grandson.

The services were at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home of Osawatomie. The Rev. Ted Hunter officiated. Mrs. Nelle Dollar was the organist.

The burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Serving as the pallbearers were Ernest Jones, Lloyd Goodeyon, Craig Powell, Bill Avery, John Cole and George Zakoura.

Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Osawatomie.
