"At the Senior Prom . . ." - the familiar words remind us of the good time we had at O.H.S.'s annual Junior-Senior Prom on April 29. Our banquet room, the "House of Joy", held the delicious food and excellent company. After the delightful meal, prepared by Mrs. Clerico and her foods group, the talented Juniors presented varied entertainment. The welcome and response, by Doyle Ingram and Dennis Reinecker respectively, were followed by a vocal solo by Sharon Winton. then George Zubowicz presented several selections on the piano. Pat Cartwright gave a poem entitled "Dissertation on a Roasted Pig." Connie Skeens, Marilyn Maxwell, Cheri Banister, and Martha Shelden, with Kathy Davis as accompanist, sang "Japanese Sandman". Everyone joined in the singing to complete the program. At 9:00, we entered the enchanted world of "Oriental Gardens". Walking over a rose-colored bridge, we watched the water trickling down a waterfall and singing to the rocks below. Above the tables hung various twinkling stars and wind chimes. Visiting with friends and dancing to the music of "Larry Barr and the Jays" we spent an enjoyable evening. All too soon, 12:00 rolled around, and the magical night ended. The memories held by each person were different. For the Seniors - their last Prom and very nearly their final school dance. For the Juniors - a sense of accomplishment and excitement over next year's propects. For the underclassmen - anticipation for the other Proms they have to look forward to. But for all - regret that the night had to end. |
