~ Basketball ~

The Trojan Team of O.H.S. Left to Right consists ot: Larry Matherly, Edmond Alberty, Kournies Shaw, Bob Johnson, John David Cole, Phil Reinecker, Charles chancellor, James Karigan, Don Dial, Delmar Thompson, Gary Quirin, Raymond Crozier, and Joe Dale Goodeyon. Kneeling, Head Coach Mac Steele

In the 1957-58 basketball season the Osawatomie Trojans, coached by Mac Steele, finished with a record of three wins and seven losses in E.K.L. play.

This year's team had four returning lettermen, and got off to a good start, but seemed to slow up as the season progressed. Near the end of the season, they began to pick up speed and defeated Olathe, Rosedale, and their rival, Paola. The six starting players were: Kournies Shaw (73), Bob Johnson (81), Charles Chancellor (83), Don Dial (75), Delmar Thompson (67) and Joe Dale Goodeyon (71).

BASKETBALL ROYALTY

Miss Colene Carpenter, 18, was crowned Queen of the 1958 Basketball Season during the intermission of the Paola-Osawatomie basketball games on February 14. The Queen wore a full-length white formal and was escorted by Kournies Shaw. Miss Carpenter was presented with a bouquet of red roses and was crowned by Don Buckman, Student Council President. Miss Karen Barrett, 16, Senior Attendant, wore a full-length lavendar formal. She was escorted by Joe Dale Goodeyon. Miss diana Bowker, 15, Sophomore Attendant, wore a ballerina-length lavender formal. Miss Bowker was escorted by James Karigan. The Attendants were presented with small tiaras and wrist corsages.
