The Osawatomie High
School was as fortnte as usual this year in securing
efficient teachers as well as teachers of good standing, and
those teachers have been potent factors in the success of
the Class of 1919. Superintendent Axton
has brought the school thru a progressive year, despite the
handicaps that he has encountered. He will be with us next
year so e all predict a successful career for the Osawatomie
schools for the ensuing year. Miss Beulah Jordan,
the teacher of our Commercial Department, is undecided what
to do next year, but if she teaches again, we know that her
students will gain much in the line of a business
education. Miss Myrtle Eaton, who
taught Latin and Normal Trainng, has turned out some very
good teachers this year, so we can truly say that she is a
competent teachers of teachers' training. Miss Helen Gallagher
has taught in our school for two years, and has made many
fiends among the students. She was the faculty memberof the
Students' Activity Committee and carried that organization
thru a prosperous career. We are sorry to announce that she
is going to leave us, but we know that wherever she will be,
she will do her work well. Miss Cleda Pace an
O.H.S. "standby", has always been a leader in all school
activities, especially in our Y.W.C.A., so when she leaves
us this year, we are losing a real booster, yet we know that
in whatever work in which she is engges, she will be an
enthusiast. Miss Nelle Byle is
another one of our excellent teachers, who is leaving s. She
has taught science in our school, and also coached the
girls' basketball team. Mr. Arthur Messick,
the teacher of Manual Training, is going west for the next
year, and we hope that he will be as happy and successful as
he was here. When Mr. Peck, first
began teaching here in February, he said that he would be
content if we liked him half as much as Miss Lindsey, and
everyone will admit that he has made friends in our school,
and has been a factor in arousing all the latent pep and
enthusiasm in O.H.S. We all regret the
factat most of the faculty of this year are to leave us, but
we wish them success in the work of the future.
Mr. Axton - "I thnk
that we can et along without that." Mr. Peck - "Cut out
that noise - what do you kids think you're pulling off in
here?" Miss Pace - "Just a
minute - please be quiet." Miss Gallagher - "If I
need anyone to look after me, I'll ask them." Miss Boyle - "Now
girls - d-o-n-'t." Miss Eaton - "Lets try
now not to laugh too much." Miss Jordan - "Come
now, we're losing time." Mr. Messick - "You are
entirely too impudent." Miss Cook - "I've just
Pecks of work to do."
