~ GRADUATION ~
Ninety-Six Graduate Preparation for
commencement started with the writing of the class will,
history, and prophecy. These documents were presented at the
Class Day Program, May 30. The gifts of the Class of 1965 to
the school were seventeen electric fans and a new camera for
the yearbook staff. Sunday evening, May
23, the Seniors were seated in the Municipal Auditorium
listening to the Baccalaureate sermon, "Doorway to Great
Living", which was delivered by Reverend Harold B. Brown. In
his message to the Seniors, he brought out that they would
be successful if each would be an "ardent believer", a "doer
of deeds", and a "magnificent dreamer". The last but most
important event for the Seniors came on the evening of May
27, when the Commencement Exercises were held in the
Municipal Auditorium. Ninety-six Seniors marched in to
receive their diplomas. Willis L. Tompkins, Dean of
Instruction at the Kansas State College of Pittsburg, gave
the address entitled "The Power of competence". Immediately
after the commencement speech, W. R. Craig, President of the
Board of Education, presented each graduate with his
diploma.
