TROJANS HAD 9-10 SEASON The Trojan Cagers opened their season with a defeat from Burlington by a score of 56 to 54, and then suffered a crushing blow from Osage City. their record was evened by downing Gardner 65 to 51 and then squeezing by Louisburg 53 to 52. The Trojans placed third in the Christmas Tournament at Gardner due to a defeat by Gardner and a thundering win over Louisburg. In the fist bout with their arch rivals, the Paola Panthers, the Trojans stopped the Panthers 71 to 64. In the rematch with Osage City, the cagers lost by a 20-point margin. Osawatomie came home for three games but were on the losing end in two of them. The boys beat DeSoto 79 to 59, but were downed by Haskell 78 to 63 and by Harrisonville 64 to 53. The team traveled to DeSoto to play a thrilling game and top the Wildcats 64 to 53. The Immaculata Raiders and the Bonner Braves invaded Osawatomie to beat the Trojans 65 to 54 and 54 to 47 respectively St. Joseph was upset by the fighting Trojans after two overtimes with the score resting at 89 to 88. Once again the cagers suffered defeat when they met the Olathe Eagles and were trounced 71 to 41. The highlight of the season was the homecoming game against Paola. In this closely contested game the Trojans downed the Panthers 67 to 52. The team then journeyed to Gardner to participate in the Regional Tournament where they were eliminated in the first round by Gardner 71 to 58. David Flint, Gill Calvin, and Don Byers were elected Tri-Captains for the '63-'64 season.
