TROJANS MET CHALLENGE OF TRYING SEASON

The Osawatomie Trojan football team compiled a 4-4-1 record. The Trojans started off the season well with a 13 to 0 win over Gardner. Difficulty developed in the Harrisonville and Immaculata games where the boys received thundering defeats. Homecoming was a bright spot for the Trojans. as they came up for the occasion and stomped Cass County 33 to 0. The Trojans' heel was pierced by Osage City, and then they journeyed to Bonner and DeSoto. They tied the Braves and shut out the Wildcars 12 to 0. Osawatomie was upset by the Burlington Wildcats when they put the Trojans down by a score of 20 to 14. the triumph of the season was the defeat of the Paola Panthers 7 to 6 by the fighting Trojans. The Panthers led through most of the game 6 to 0, then came the fatal blow. with 22 seconds left in the game the conquering Trojans scored a touchdown and made the extra point, for the sixth consecutive win over Paola. This earned them the right for the Tom-Tom another year. The boys and their guests were honored by their mothers at the annual football banquet held at the Methodist church on November 18. The tri-captains, Hank Kester, Bill Calvin, and Leon Harris, presented the Tom-Tom to Mr. Steele who represented the student body.

TOM-TOM HANGS IN TROJAN HALL AGAIN

The Tom-Tom returned to the halls of OHS once again for the sixth consecutive year. In the last twenty-two seconds, the Trojans carried the ball over the goal line to tie at six to six. The extra point gave the game to Osawatomie with the score seven to six.

The Trojans and the Panthers have been meeting each other on the gridiron for the conquest of the Tom-Tom since 1939. The Tom-Tom has been won by Osawatomie twelve times, while Paola has acquired it only eleven times. The contest has ended in a tie twice.
