In providing school
service, the Kays held an all school party for the Freshmen
in the fall and at Christmas time donated the school
Christmas Tree. Donations were made to the C.A.R.E. program.
The eighty-five members strived to achieve the 2,000 point
award that would lead to acquiring the 3,000 point award at

KAYETTES
|
The theme for this year was "Reach Heichts." In
keeping with this Kayetters accomplished many worthwhile
projects in the areas of school, community, and world
service. Some of these were helping families at Thanksgiving
and Christmas, giving to CARE, Meals for Millions, and the
March of Dimes, cleaning lockers, bundle days, and giving
gifts to the state hospital. All of these projects helped
the club receive a 2,000 point award for the sixth
time.

"ROMANS" FEAST AT LATIN BANQUET
|
The annual Latin
Banquet planned by the Latin II class was held on April 18
at the West School all-purpose room. The theme, "Av Ovo and
Mala," fit well the three course meal which started with
eggs in the salad and ended with applecause cake. Sylvia
Hutchens representing Juno, Lance Reppert portraying
Jupiter, and Leonard Cuddy as Rex Bibendi presided at the
head table. After the meal, which was served by eight slave
girls from the eighth grade, group singing was led by
Ramalee Ricketts. The best-dressed "Romans" welected were
John Craig and Jody Law. After a short play "TV at Mount
Olympus," had been presented, games concluded the evenings'
events.

SCIENCE CLUB
LEARNS THROUGH EXPERIMENTATION
The Science Club
served to cultivate the scientific curiousities of its
members and to promote science in the school. Meetin every
Tuesday and every other Saturday, the club, under the
sponsorship of Mr. bowman, delved into such mattters as
crystal growing and mammalian grogeniture. During the year
several hydrogen-filled balloons were launched, each with
instructions for the finder to return it to the club. On
October 13, the club went to Kansas University Science and
Math Day at Lawrence. The club also sponsored a science fair
in the spring.
