1961 OHS YEARBOOK

~ Football ~

The Trojan football team started off the 1960 season with an impressive win over Baldwin. The Trojans then journeyed to Turner to meet the strong and powerful Bears. Playing their best, the Trojans made a good showing, going down in defeat. Against Tonganoxie, the Trojans were again victorious. The three weeks that followed proved to be disastrous for the Trojans. After a heart breaking loss to Rosedale, the Trojans were defeated by Olathe and Bonner Srings. To get back on the right track, the Trojans defeated DeSoto, but then lost to Garnett. The season ended in the best possible way with a 13-7 win over the Paola Panthers. The Trojans combined a fine offensive and defensive game to stop the Panthers with the high-light of the game being a last-quarter defensive stand in the closing minutes of the game. The seniors wore the red and white for the last time.

Homecoming

The traditional bonfire is burned after the cheerleaders lead an energetic pep rally at the auditorium and snake-dance down Main Street to the statium. After the fire is lighted, the Panther is burned as a climax.
