1961 OHS YEARBOOK

~ Introduction ~

Osawatomie High School

Dedication

This book is dedicated to Mr. "Mac" Steele and his endless hours of teaching and coaching the students of O.H.S. We can all remember the math classes we have attended. Maybe the largest part of the praise and admiration for him would come from the boys he has coached. We will always be grateful to him for advising and driving us to do the best we possibly could. We all owe him a great deal and hope this yearbook will remind him of the help he has given all O.H.S. students.

Trojan Tom-Tom

Above, Jerry Parmenter, student council president, receives the Trojan Tom-Tom from football co-captains Tom Coker and Ronnie Butts.

The Tom-Tom pictured below is a tradition at O.H.S., which started in 1939. The original tradition stated that whoever won the game between Paola and Osawatomie would receive the Tom-Tom. The Osawatomie Trojans have kept the Tom-Tom for the past three years.
