Busy at all sports events keeping the school spirit alive were our seven cheerleaders. This year's 1957-58 squad, uniformed in red corduroy skirts and white sweaters with white emblems, consisted of six regulars: Sharon Barnett, Judy Findley, Linda Harmony, Mary Ann Hamilton, Connie Hagadorn, and Janet Brown. Our cheerleaders and their sponsor, Miss Flores, represented Osawatomie at all games, promoting the spirit and pep that helped our teams on to victory. Pep rallies were held during the school day, before each game, and also before the Homecoming, and the traditional Paola game. As the year came to a close, Seniors, Sharon Barnett and Becky McMahon, finished their third year on the squad; Linda Harmony, her second year; and Judy Findley, her first year. In an award assembly each of the cheerleaders was awarded a chenille letter with bars representing the number of years on the squad, and each was also a guest at the annual Football banquet.

The B-Team Cheerleaders, captained by Ramona Casto, were a "lively group" in leading cheers at freshman and B-Team basketball games and also at assemblies. The cheerleaders were: Ramona Casto, Diana Bowler, Judy Baughman, Ellyn McQuade, Jo Ann Zakoura, and Linda Ward. The sponsor was Miss Flores.
