introduction
The members of the 1949
Trojan Staff, anticipating the uncertain future, realize
that the fine example of perseverance and fortitude
displayed by the Forty-niners in their battle against almost
overwhelming odds might well be duplicated. Recognizing that
our journey through life is, in reality, just beginning, we
determine to overcome every obstacle and to strive for
complete realization of our most cherished dreams so that
eventually we, like the Forty-niners, shall reach the golden
land.
We, the Nineteen
Forty-niners of Osawatomie High School, proudly dedicate
this yearbook to the memory of the courageous Eighteen
Forty-niners, who, despite dangers and hardships, pressed on
to California, thereby laying a substantial piece of the
cornerstone of America.
