THE BIXBY STORY
Thirty years ago, Mr. C. S. Bixby,
President of the Board of Education, was teaching school in
the stone building which was Osawatomie's first school
building. Before that time, he had taught ten years in the
rural schools. For twenty-five years, Mr. Bixby has
been a member of the Board of Education. For the past
eighteen years, he has been President of the Board, and as
President has presented each succeeding graduating class
with their diplomas. This year, the last year he intends to
serve on the Board, he will present the diplomas to the
largest graduating class that O.H.S. has ever
known. Mr. Bixby's services in establishing
and building up the school system of Osawatomie cannot be
overestimated. He has served the cause of education
faithfully and can now begin to enjoy his well-earned
vacation.
