Obituary:

Mildred Meuser, 85, Monett, Mo., a former resident of this area, died Friday, April 10, 1992 at Monett.

She was born at Paola, on Oct. 31, 1906, the daughter of Charles T. and Grace Graham Meuser. She attended the Paola schools and graduated with the Class of 1924.

She graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., in 1926, where she was a member of Phi Theta Kappa honorary scholarship fraternity. She attended the University of Kansas from 1927 to 1929. She was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.

She received a master's degree in education in 1937 from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, where she was a member of Pi Lambda Theta, Xi Chapter, honorary teachers sorority.

In 1965 she studied Spanish at the University of Valencia inSpain.

Miss Meuser taught English and Spanish in the Osawatomie High School from 1924 to 1944 and she moved to the Kansas City area at that time. She then taught at the old Manual High School in Kansas City from 1944 to 1950 and the Southwest High School in Kansas City from 1950 to 1971 when she retired. She moved to Monett in 1989 to make her home.

She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the College Club, the American Association of Retired Teachers, the Perfection Chapter Order of the Eastern Star of Paola and the Second Presbyterian Church of Kansas City.

The survivors include a brother, Kenneth G. Meuser; two nephews and a niece.

Graveside services were at 2 p.m. today, Monday, at the Paola Cemetery under the direction of the Newcomer's Stine & McClure Chapel in Kansas City, Mo.
