SEPTEMBER 16, 1910 - AUGUST 23, 1993

Services for Noel Ivan Ganoung, Osawatomie, were held Thursday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Ganoung, a retired Osawatomie educator, died Monday, August 23, 1993, in his home.

Mr. Ganoung taught industrial arts and mechanical drawing in the Osawatomie school system from 1945 until retiring in 1972 due to a previous back injury suffered which coaching.

His career in education began in 1937 when he accepted a position as principal and teacher at Fairport High School. From 1939 until 1942, he was principal at Formoso and and 1942 until 1945, he was a teacher and coach at Rossville Rural High School.

He was born Septemer 16, 1910, in Plainville and his parents were Eugene Colfax and Carrie L. Nora North Ganoung. After graduating from Plainville High School in 1930, he attended college for a time.

He and Verna Gamble were married in August 1933 in Mead. they lived on the family farm and he farmed and worked for the Works Progress Administration (WPA) on the Rooks County Lake. Mrs. Ganoung died on pneumonia in January 1935.

After the death of his wife, he lived with his brother, Leo Ganoung, and worked on the highway, running a motor patrol during 1935-1936.

He and Helen Lucile Farris were married November 23, 1936, in downs.
