Lucas Anthony Robert Mort age 18 of Parker, KS died Sunday September 6, 2015 at Miami County Medical Center, Paola, Kansas resulting from injuries sustained in a car accident.

Lucas was born October 15, 1996 in Weatherford, Texas to James Eugene Mort and Clara Annette Ross. After spending the first 12 years of his life in Weatherford, Texas he then moved to Osawatomie, Kansas where he attended Osawatomie Middle School and High School and graduated with the class of 2015 this past May.

The love he had for the game of football started at a very young age. Once he was old enough to play, he never stopped. He played for the Osawatomie Trojan Middle school team as well as the Osawatomie high school team. As a junior Lucas was named Pioneer League first team defensive lineman and then as a senior he was named Pioneer League first team offensive lineman.

If you were given the opportunity to get to know Lucas you were given the chance to know a beautiful heart. You would always get your fair share of hugs and kisses when around Lucas, even when resisting. That smile of his was something special, quite contagious actually. He had eyes like his Mama: big, bright and blue, and don’t get me started about those lashes. Lucas was the type of guy that was quick to apologize when wrong but would sure let you know when he was right! There wasn’t anything that meant more to him than his family and friends. He sure did have a love for his cars whether it be old or new. You could almost always find him on the market for a new car even though he got the one he was driving just a month ago. Lucas was one in a bazillion and will truly be forever loved and missed.

He is preceded in death by his maternal Grandpa Rex Ross, maternal Great Grandparents Troy and Shirley McCoach, Maternal Great Uncle Ivan Ross. Maternal Great Grandparents Conrad and Betty Courtney, Maternal Great Grandma Clara Bridges, and Maternal Great- Great Grandparents TC and Dorothy Graham.

Lucas is survived by his Father James Mort of Weatherford, TX, his Mother Clara Ross & Step dad Charles Higgins of Parker, KS. Seven Brothers: David Higgins, Zach Higgins, Justin Hughes, Caleb Mort, Ricky Senn, Gage Higgins and Tommy Mort. Six sisters: Anna Kelsey, Patricia Price, Necca Mort, Brittany Whited, Paige Towler and Presley Higgins. Grandparents: Anthony Herring, James & Ramona MaGee, Toni Ross and JoeAnn Edge. As well as many Aunts, Uncles and other family members. Along with many many friends.
