He was born March 5, 1987, in Kansas City, Mo., to Christopher and Debbie Sue Hoffman Stickney. He graduated from Osawatomie High School in 2005. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 2006 and served 1½ years until being honorably discharged in 2008 as a maintenance technician.

On July 9, 2005, he was united in marriage to Julia Long. They became the parents of one son. They later divorced.

Joshua enjoyed fishing, golfing, reading, riding the four-wheeler, traveling, listening to music, camping, swimming, participating in Relay For Life, hanging out with family and friends and meeting new people. He never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Debbie, and stepfather, Brian McQuay Sr. of La Cygne; father, Christopher Stickney of Osawatomie; son, Isaiah Eugene Stickney of La Cygne; sisters, Cassie Butcher of Killeen, Texas, and Carey Diebolt of Paola; brothers, Nathan Stickney of Davenport, Iowa, and Brian McQuay of Tacoma, Wash.; grandparents, Carolee O’Brien of Osawatomie, Chuck and Donna Stickney of Paola, Shirley McQuay of Osawatomie, and Marilyn McQuay of Topeka.
