Deborah was born on March 27, 1956 in Paola, Kansas, to Houston Lee and Freddie Mae Winton, and departed this life on October 20, 2007. Her father, Houston, and one sister, Dora Ann preceded her in death.

Deborah was affectionately known as "Duh" and attended school in Osawatomie, graduating from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1974. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at the Ebenezer Baptist Church.

After high school, she moved to Chicago, IL. She worked for the Avon Cosmetic Company and Johnson Publishing Company. Deb was straightforward and fun to be around.She was a ball of laughter.

Left to cherish her memories: the joys of her life, one son, Duwan Shepherd; one duaughter, Kiarra Bankston; her loving mother, Freddie Mae Winton; three sisters, Sharon Winton, Shephanie Smith, and Terri Norris; six brothers: Tommie, Galen, Wendell, Bryan, Anthony and Lamont; seven grandchildren; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The love of her life, Hubert Bankston, will miss her greatly.
