William F Hammond Age 63, of Osawatomie, Ks, lost his battle with lung cancer
on April 30, 2020 in Wichita, KS.
Bill was born in Paola Ks on July 13, 1956. He was the youngest son of James E.
and Betty L. Hammond. He grew up in Osawatomie and was co-captain of the
1973 Osawatomie State Football Champions. He graduated from Osawatomie
High School in 1974.
Bill played football at Fort Scott Junior College. He served in the US Navy. Bill
worked as a tree trimmer for Aspludh Tree Service and was a member of the
IBEW. Bill moved to North Carolina for several years and then lived in New
Orleans.
Bill returned to Osawatomie several years ago. He worked part time as a football
referee and baseball umpire and spent his time with friends watching sports.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents James and Betty Hammond. He is
survived by his brother Tom (Jenny) Hammond of Wichita, two nephews Thomas
(Caroline) Hammond and Michael Hammond, and one niece, Lexi (Jace) Giannetti,
his dog Purdy and many friends. Bill loved sports and was an avid fan of Kansas
Jayhawk Basketball and the Green Bay Packers. A celebration of life will be held
at a later date in Osawatomie.
