ANTHONY MICHAEL MAIMER

CLASS OF 1973

MAY 14, 1955 - NOVEMBER 8, 2012

Tony Maimer was born May 14, 1955, son of Tony and Charlene Maimer, in Murfreesboro, TN. He grew up in Osawatomie, KS, graduated from high school in 1973 and attended the Univ. of Kansas. He graduated from Multnomah Bible College with a B.S. In Biblical Studies in 1990, then completed a BS in technical journalism at Colorado State Univ. in 1995.

He married Marina Stewart June 3, 1978, and enjoyed a rich relationship based on what they call the 3 C's of marriage: Christ, commitment, and communication. They shared a love for God and His Word, delighting in sharing their faith and hope with others. Tony mentored several young men in the faith, and built into children a sense of wonder and learning about all that God created. He spent 2 summers teaching English, once in Bulgaria, and once in South Korea, using the opportunity to learn a new language and culture, and to impart the gospel of Christ to his students. He enjoyed several years of volunteering with International Students, Inc., on the CSU campus, hosting Bible studies for students from around the globe.

Tony engaged in a variety of job opportunities over several decades, from grocery sacker, to custodian, draftsman, reporter, nurse aide, pizza delivery, security guard, technical support for Center Partners and for Hewlett-Packard. He was intrigued by computers since the days of a single computer requiring its own building, and pursued the technical/internet developments as fast as they happened. Eventually he began his own business “PC Janitor” to serve folks with software problems/challenges.

Tony was a servant at heart. He was available to help folks with a move, to do repairs, painting, cleaning, raking, and providing hospitality for those in need. A pivotal opportunity came to open his home to his father-in-law Paul in 2007, and both Marina and he shared the cares, deepening their understanding of sacrificial love and perseverance. We thank God for the faith He brought to Paul's life for trusting in Jesus as His Savior.

As he journeyed through this past 3 years dealing with melanoma Tony trusted in God for His ultimate plan. Even as the cancer advanced he was always interested in praying for others and encouraging them through emails and calls. He faced his final days with humility, with a smile and a song, and the peace that surpasses all understanding. (See Philip. 4:4-8) He was so grateful for his huge circle of praying friends and family everyday!

Tony is survived by his wife Marina, father Tony Maimer, brothers Bernie Maimer, Chris & Tammy Maimer, Danny & Melissa Maimer, sister Elaine & Michael Fagan, and half-brother Joe Maimer, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Tony loved to study, memorize, and teach God's Word to others. This would be his prayer for himself and for others: “Open my eyes, that I may see wondrous things from Your law.” Ps.119:18 and “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You”. Ps. 119:11.

Contributions may be made to Samaritan's Purse in memory of Tony.
