Guy Lynn Keast, age 53, of rural Rantoul, Kansas, died August 25, 2009. He was born September 28, 1955 at Osawatomie, Kansas to Earl L. "Sonny" and Connie (Thoms) Keast. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1973.

Guy started working for Missouri Pacific Railroad in 1973 and became an engineer a year later. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. He retired from the railroad in 2003 after 30 years.

He was united in marriage to Susan (New) Chase on November 18, 1989 at Osawatomie. They made their home in Osawatomie until they moved to rural Rantoul in 1998.

For the past six years, Guy owned and operated his own business known as Dri Wash 'n Guard. He and Susan started another business, SendOutCards, in February of 2008 which is internet based greeting cards.

Guy had many hobbies. He loved to ride his motorcycle, listen to music, fish, and hunt; but his favorite pastime was spending time with his grandchildren and family. Guy was best known for his outgoing personality and passion for life. He never met a stranger and was always meeting and making new friends.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie.

He was preceded in death by his brother Kirk who died in June of 2007.

He is survived by his wife Susan of the home; his parents Sonny and Connie Keast of Osawatomie; his daughter Nicole Benavides and her husband Rick of McAllen, Texas; his step-son Myron Chase and his wife Amy of Mission, Kansas; his step-daughter Mandy Faucett and her husband Keith of Olathe; his brother Kent Keast and his wife Tammy of rural Paola; three grandchildren Ty Caruso, Shelby Caruso, and Parker Chase; Curtis Caruso of McAllen, Texas who was like a son to Guy; other relatives and friends.

In Guy's memory, a gathering of friends and family members will be held commencing at 5 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2009, at the home of Kent and Tammy Keast, 32300 W. 303rd Street, Paola, Kansas. All who are able to attend are welcome. A formal memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2009, at the First United Presbyterian Church in Osawatomie. Inurnment will be in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Memorials are to the Guy Keast Memorial Fund.
