DeeAnna Ruth Cavinnee died on November 22, 2017 after a long illness. DeeAnna was born in Kansas on October 23, 1950. She received a BA in Political Science from the University of Kansas, a BA in Business Administration from the University of Pittsburgh and a MA in Library Science from the University of Pittsburgh. DeeAnna led the formation of the Allegheny County Library Association. She worked for the Ohio State Library, the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Highmark and Family Links. DeeAnna formed the Farmers Markets Friends to advocate for development of farmers' markets in Pittsburgh. DeeAnna was a spirited woman who cared about the environment, social justice and governmental accountability. She will be missed by her many friends in Pittsburgh. Memorial donations may be sent to the Thomas Merton Center, 5129 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15224. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, December 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Pine Creek Presbyterian Church in Fox Chapel.
