PAUL EDWARD TYRELL, JR.

CLASS OF 1958

AUGUST 12, 1940 - MARCH 22, 1984

Paul Edward Tyrell, Jr., 43, of Osawatomie, died unexpectedly Thursday, March 22, 1984 at the Miami County Hospital.

He was born Aug. 12, 1940, in Osawatomie, the son of Paul Edward and Helen Whitney Tyrell. He grew up and attended the Osawatomie schools, graduating with the Class of 1958.

He worked at the Safeway Store for a short time before joining the U.S. Air Force. He served for several years and attained the rank of Sergeant before his discharge in May of 1968. He then made his home in the Topeka area, where he worked at the Richman-Gordman Clothing Store.

On Feb. 27, 1987, he was married to Brenda Sue Harrison in Carbondale, Kan. They made their home there and became the parents of four children. In 1979 the family moved back to Osawatomie, where Mr. Tyrell was employed by the Missouri Pacific Railroad as a brakeman-conductor.

His mother and a sister, Patricia, preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Brenda Tyrell and his four children, Kelli, Bryan, Christina and Marc, all of the home; his father and stepmother, P. E. Tyrell Sr. and Mary Tyrell of Osawatomie; four brothers, Chris Tyrell of Osawatomie, Bryan Tyrell of Murray, Ky., Kenneth Sumrall of Coffeyville, Kan.; and Denis Sumrall of Osawatomie; four sisters, Mrs. Leslie Bowker of Paola, Mrs. Sharon Dela Cruz and Mrs. Susan Dempsey, both of Osawatomie, and Sheila Sumrall of Olathe, and nieces and nephews.

The services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home at Osawatomie. The Rev. Rich Roberts officiated. Mrs. Rosalee Bowker played the organ. Musical selections played on tapes were "How Great Thou Art:, "I Did It My Way" and "In the Garden".

Randy Harrison, Steve Phannenstiel, Gene Schiefelbein, Bill Duncan, Robert Springstead and Louie Padilla were the pallbearers. The burial was in the Carbondale Cemetery.

Memorials have been established for the children at the First National Bank at Osawatomie.
