ROBERT J. KENNEDY, SR.

CLASS OF 1958 

OCTOBER 27, 1940 - APRIL 22, 1990

Services for Robert Joseph Kennedy Sr., 101 E. Pacific Ave., Osawatomie, were held last Wednesday in Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home.

Mr. Kennedy, 49, died Sunday, April 22, 1990, at his home after an extended illness.

The son of Charlie Everett and Dorothy Maria Johnston Kennedy, he was born Oct. 27, 1940, in Wenatchee, Wash. In 1945 the family moved to Osawatomie where he grew up and attended school, graduating from Osawatomie High School in 1958.

After his graduation, he moved to Arizona and in 1960, he and Minnie Jordan were married in Phoenix. They became the parents of four children. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1970.

In 1963, he returned to Osawatomie and worked in construction. His last job was as construction foreman at the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant near Burlington.

He and Rita A. Gonzales were married July 5, 1974, in Miami, Okla. They made their home in Osawatomie.

Among those preceding him in death was a brother.

Survivors include his wife, Rita, of the home; two sons, Robert Kennedy Jr., Osawatomie, and Charley Kennedy, Ukiah, Calif.; two daughters, Anna Keast and Tammy Keast, Osawatomie; two brothers, Ben Kennedy, Osawatomie, and Harold Kennedy, Marietta, Ga.; and 16 grandchildren.

The Rev. Pamela Hart was the officiate. Pallbearers were Robert J. Kennedy Jr., William Benjamin Kennedy, Dale W. Kennedy, Dennis Clark, Joe Weber and Wilber Kennedy. Burial was in the Lane Cemetery.
