Martha J. McIntosh, age 73, of Paola, Kansas, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, died Thursday, May 1, 2014 at her home.

Martha was born June 6, 1940 at El Dorado, Kansas. She was the second of six children born to George B. and Ruth (Whitney) Golden. She grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School with the Class of 1958.

She was united in marriage to Bill McIntosh on July 12, 1959 at Osawatomie Methodist Church. They became the parents of two children, Bret and Brenda.

Martha was always working. She had worked at the Osawatomie State Hospital in the dietary department, as a bookkeeper for Quality Oil gas station in Osawatomie which she and Bill managed, as a line technician for King Radio, Mode ’0 Day women’s clothing store in Osawatomie, the Sunflower Ammunitions Plant in DeSoto, as a cook for various nursing homes, and her last job was as an apartment manager for Osawatomie Senior Courts.

Martha had many hobbies which included shopping at Coach Light, frequenting various dining establishments in the Osawatomie and Miami County area; but her favorite hobby by far was the time she spent with the Friday morning coffee group at Whistle Stop.

She was a member of the Osawatomie Church of the Nazarene. Martha had quite a collection of lighthouses she had accumulated over several years.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bill who died in 1992, her parents, and siblings Shirley Ann Golden, Jerry Golden, and Jack Golden.

She is survived by her children Bret of Ottawa, Kansas and Brenda Argeropoulos of Ashland, Mississippi; two sisters Betty Laster of Ottawa and Judy Lyons of Osawatomie; 6 grandchildren Nicki Cox, Meghan McIntosh, David McIntosh, Daniel McIntosh, Justin Argeropoulos, and Nikki Argeropoulos; 14 great grandchildren Michaela, Gage, Colby, Brandon, Michael, Cody, Miley, Mason, Xander, Parker, Vincent, Harley, Evelyn, and Lilly Bea; many other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Gage Harrison, Colby Cook, Brandon Stimach, Michael Stimach, Cody Maxwell, Mason McIntosh, Xander McIntosh, Parker McIntosh, and Vincent McIntosh.

Memorials are to the Miami County Cancer Foundation or the Nazarene Church and can be sent in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 605 O’Neal Ave., P. O. Box 280, Osawatomie, KS, 66064.
