LARRY STIEBEN

Services for Larry S. Stieben, 42, Osawatomie, who died Monday, March 9, 1981, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City, were held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie. The Rev. Larry Allbaugh officiated.

Burial was in the Osawatomie Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bernard Weber, Roy Weaver, Jack Blevins, Charles Allen, Thomas Redlin, Melvin Brown and Don Coram.

The son of Samuel and Marietta Geckle Stieben he was born July 1, 1938, in Great Bend. Smiley, as he was known, spent his early years in Western Kansas and moved to Osawatomie in 1956. He graduated with the senior class of the Osawatomie High School in 1957.

After school he worked seven years for Missouri Pacific Railroad and became a machinist. For the past 16 years he had worked for Taylor Forge as a maintenance mechanic.

He was married to Mary Beets June 21, 1963.

Mr. Stieben was an aid outdoorsman and was a member of the Trapshooters Association.

His father preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Stieben and three daughters, Miss Lora Lynn Stieben and Miss Lisa Dawn Stieben, all of the home, and Mrs. Teresa Lee Hortenstine, Ramsey, Ill.; his mother, Mrs. Marietta Stieben, Osawatomie, and a granddaughter, Valerie Kays Hortenstine, Ramsey, Ill.
