Iris Jean Tenpenny, age 68, of Iola, Kansas, formerly of Osawatomie, Kansas, died October 16, 2007 at the Midland Hospice House in Topeka.

Iris was born August 16, 1939 at Olivet, Kansas. She was the daughter of Douglas Eugene and Leota Murl (Tyson) Ogden. She graduated from Osawatomie High School in the Class of 1957.

She was married to Richard Leroy Tenpenny on June 28, 1959 at Osawatomie, Kansas. They made their home in Osawatomie and became the parents of three children. She was a very devoted wife and mother. Her husband preceded her in death on October 21, 2006.

Iris worked as a bank teller at Emprise Bank in Iola, Kansas for 15 years. She retired when she became a grandmother. She very willingly and lovingly devoted her retirement years to her grandchildren Jacob, Richard, Dwight, Dwayne, Kevin, Justis, and Alaina.

Iris was an avid bowler and attended many national bowling conventions.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

She is survived by her children Alicia Vanatta of Rossville, Kansas, Todd Tenpenny of Iola, Kansas, and Shawn Tenpenny of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; her brother Gary Ogden of Newnan, Georgia; her sister Kristine Kirk of Overland Park, Kansas; seven grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Cremation. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007 at the Alpine Cemetery, Melvern, Kansas. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eddy-Birchard Funeral Home, Osawatomie, Kansas.
